The name Villa Ilisio is inspired by the Elysian Fields, or "Elysium," from Greek mythology—a place of perfect happiness and tranquility.
To Ancient Greeks, Elysium was a heavenly realm where the souls of the virtuous and heroic were said to dwell after death. Often depicted as a place of eternal peace and happiness, Elysium was described as a lush, sunlit paradise filled with gentle breezes, fragrant flowers, and golden fields. Unlike the underworld’s somber tone, the Elysian Fields symbolized reward, rest, and harmony—a realm of divine favor.
Much like its mythical namesake, the villa offers a serene retreat surrounded by the beauty of Crete’s countryside. With its olive groves, mountain views, and the sea glimmering in the distance, Villa Ilisio captures the essence of this idyllic paradise.
